Foods and beverages served in PUSD schools follow federal, state, and local nutrition requirements based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the USDA MyPlate food guide. Meals are planned, prepared, and served by a team of qualified child nutrition professionals, including a registered dietitian.
School lunch is offered at every school and follows the meal pattern of the National School Lunch Program. The school lunch meal includes choice of entree, a variety of fruits and vegetables, and choice of milk.
The School Breakfast Program is offered at eight schools: Los Penasquitos ES, Midland ES, Pomerado ES, Valley ES, Meadowbrook MS, Mt. Carmel HS, Poway HS, and Westview HS.
In addition to complete school meals, a la carte foods and beverages ("Smart Snacks") are available for purchase at middle and high schools.
Nutrients and the 8 most common food allergens may be viewed by clicking on menu items from the interactive links posted below. All information is based on documentation provided to PUSD by its suppliers, and is current to the best of our knowledge. While the Food and Nutrition Department makes every effort to serve menus as published, vendors occasionally change ingredients or make substitutions without advance notice.
